How the matching works

Your skills

An AI model (Claude, by Anthropic) reads your CV and picks your skills from our fixed list of skills. It does not choose your jobs or careers. Starting from a job title instead uses the skills that job usually involves, with no AI.

Live jobs

We search Reed, Adzuna, GOV.UK Teaching Vacancies, remote job boards and jobs posted on MatchMySkillset for your own job and your closest careers, near where you want to work. Adverts more than 60 days old are left out.

The match score

Match is 60% skills (the skills named in the advert that your CV shows, rarer skills counting for more, plus at half weight the skills that kind of job usually needs, from our careers data), 25% how close the job is to your own job or one of your career matches, and 15% level (a big step up or down counts against it). With no skills to check, a match is capped at 55% and marked “Title match only”. The same CV and advert always get the same score.
